I'm Done

I am done with complaining about Minnesota and the weather here. It doesn't do anything except justify me being in a bad mood all the time. I will not bitch about the weather for the rest of this winter. It doesn't do anything to help and just makes me look like a whiny little child.

I am heading out to California in 8 days for Christmas. I am very excited for that trip. I am hoping to go to the Kings-Ducks game on Boxing day. It should be a nice relaxing time with my family.

WTF

Deja Vu all over again. Last Friday I worked during the pending snowstorm. This Friday the snowstorm is going to hit right as I am getting off work. We are supposed to get 6-12 inches of snow (edit: 9-13 inches). I never remember it snowing this much, this early before. The temp is also supposed to be -9 on Saturday night. Are they for reals? That's the dumbest shit I have ever heard.

Last Friday I said this, and I'll say it again; I wish we could have a bobfire during these snowstorms. That is how we used to roll and it definitely made snow storms more fun/bearable. So tonight when I am in my room playing video games and drinking I will daydream of years past when that is where we would be. Giving the sky the middle finger.

I am hoping the it holds off snowing until at least 10. I get off work at 11 tonight. The drive home last week at 11 was so shitty. The roads sucked and my car is horrendous in any snow. It took me 50 minutes to get home last week. Hopefully tonight I can make it before the snow really comes down.

I will be stopping by the store on the way home if roads are ok to get the following:
Pizza
pizza rolls
hot pockets
milk
cookies
cereal
coke

I already have my rum and figure with those foods, video games, tivo, internet, and books it will be a solid weekend.

I have no reason to leave my crib, and I don't see myself leaving it for any reason until Monday.

Harry Potter!!!

I remember in high school going to 2 separate midnight showings of 2 different Harry Potter movies (Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban). There were at least 10 friends that went to each of these. It was amazing, and fun. Well tonight is The Deadly Hallows part 1. There is no one left except Mr. 533 aka Easy-E. Sadly everyone else moved on and grew up and probably have a lot better lives than those that live in Maple Square aka Murder Squared aka District 10. We still doing it big and got Harry Potter on lock though. If you are interested hit me up. We will be in EP (gross) at midnight to watch part 1 of the Deathly Hallows.

Tidbits

First and foremost Maizy is gone. Most likely to a better place, but who knows? Basically she went outside at my parents one day and never came back. She came to us as a stray and decided when it was time to go, she would leave us as a stray. It is always sad when animals die. I wasn't sad because I have been preparing for this day for about 5 years now. She was sooooooo old and such an awesome cat. She always slept with me while I was in high school. She would hunt like a motherfucker (she was from the streets of new jersey) and was so gentle to everyone. When my parents moved to California I liked to think of her as coming in as a stray (starving to death, so scrawny), spending 14 years in the cold winters of Minnesota, and going to sunny Southern Cal to live out her years. We never knew how old she was, but she was old. Larry King old. Anyway, cheers Miss Maizy. It has been a good run. You will be missed.

Harry Potter comes out in 8 days. I still need to read the book. I plan on going to the midnight showing so I obviously need to get my shit in gear. It will be tight, and I will know if I am going to make that midnight showing probably by Sunday.

I found a dead mouse in my room yesterday when I was cleaning my shit. I have been thinking about getting 2 cats lately, but now I am thinking of doing it sooner than later. I guess you will just need to stay tuned to this blog!

I used to be a big fan of digg.com. Then it went to shit and now I am a big fan of reddit.com. I advise anyone that needs time to kill to go there. They have some many damn subforums on everything it is amazing. They also have a secret santa of 10,000+ users that I signed up for. I will keep you posted on what I send and what I receive.

That is all for now. Time to start reading some harry potter.

P.S. Not only is Conan back, but it is also replayed at midnight so I can relive my high school glory days with late night conan!!!! Score!

I'm tired

Working the overnight when you haven't for 4 months AND having it happen when we turn the clocks back? Sounds like a fucking conspiracy to me. The only good thing is I left my sweat pants and half zip on my bed and plan on doing the bart simpson after church routine. I know, I know he strips down to his undies, but my crib is too cold for that (currently sitting at 54 degrees).

This blog really does suck. I know that and can't really do anything to change it. I play video games, watch tv, and work. That is probably what I said whenever the last time I posted.

My dad was in town this weekend so I went out to dinner with him. Seeing him just makes me jealous that he gets to live in southern cali. He said that my mom and him sat on their front porch and handed candy out to children on halloween. Sounds rough. The only good news is that I get to go there for 5 days over christmas. That trip will involve one of the best flights (going out) and one of the worst (coming back). When I came back in August I was very sad, and I was coming back to decent weather. I don't want to know how sad I will be in December. I don't want to sound like I'm ragging on Minnesota, but I really would love to get out. Too bad there is no leaving the square. Just ask Dave. Dude tried so hard to get out and thought he was out and then just went 0-3 to the square in 3 straight weeks. Streets talk, i ain't no dumby.

You should watch The Walking Dead. I am bias because that is my dream scenerio, but it really is an awesome show.

Chris Stewart for the Hart! Kevin Durant for MVP Ryan Saunders for Coach of the Year (yes he will be the first assistant to win it!).

I am sorry to Tyler for not making kickball yesterday. It just didn't work out. I am sorry. I hope you are still planning on moving in.

Vikings will lose today just to add to my delirium/stupid Saturday/Sunday.

COD Black Ops is out Tuesday and I got Gears of War, Bioshock, and Fallout 3 coming in the mail. I will enough video games to make up an excuse not to be social. It is the way it should be. Cheers!

Back to reality

Hopefully I will be back here sooner than later, and thankfully I have a few reasons to come back (family and Bobby).

After being spoiled with fancy dinners at:
Dukes http://www.dukesmalibu.com/ (seared rare yellow fin, mai tai to drink, and chocolate molton cake with macademia nut ice cream)
Salt Creek http://www.saltcreekgrille.com/valencia.asp (blacken chilean sea bass, blue moon x2, chocolate souffle (one of the best deserts I have tasted)
In-N-Out http://www.in-n-out.com/ (double double with fries and chocolate shake)
Chick-fil-a http://www.chick-fil-a.com/#home (chicken sandwich combo with chocolate shake)
Carl's Jr. http://www.carlsjr.com/ (jalapeno burger with fries and chocolate shake)
Baja Fresh http://bajafresh.com/ (Fish Tacos x2 with rice and beans and chips)

Now it is back to eating boring, budget food in doom and gloom minnesota. Boo.

I also haven't run at all out here. I planned on it, but it didn't happen. I spent days beach side and pool side too, so that needs to count for something. I also stared in awe at the mountains surrounding my parents' house.

I need some excitement in my life. Damn you reality.

My new theme song...

Excited to hang tomorrow and not work. Get to run 6 miles in the morning (that I was supposed to run today, but chose sleep instead since I had to work) and then I am just gonna be hanging. Anyway, peep the song and tell me that it isn't amazing. FUCK YOU OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Friday, August 13, 2010

I have a whacky work schedule the next few days in which I work 3-11 everyday from Friday-Wednesday. It makes me tired just thinking about it.

The English Premier League kicks off tomorrow. I am not as vocal for my love of the premier league as I am for the NFL, but I love it just as much. Every Saturday and Sunday starting tomorrow until next May will have footy games. That is a refreshing thought.

Arsenal should be solid again this year. If injuries didn't decimate last year they would have raised the trophy. Of course that is a very big "if". They start this season off Sunday at Liverpool in what will be a good match to kick off the season with.

(Flash forward ahead about 2 1/2 hours)

I hate people. Among other winners I checked in tonight included a lady who was pushing 3 bills and when she was notified there was no pool her response was, "ohhh no but I really wanted to go swimming". She said this with a gross babyish(????) face on. Shit was wierd. I am just thankful no one had to see her fat ass in a bathing suit.

Anyway I don't want to start bitching about people because I am not that negative of a person. Everyone already knows I hate 9 out of 10 people and I am a certified hater so I won't even spend time on it.

I will wrap up with this before I get to go home and play xbox.

Premier League Final Standings May 2011
1. Arsenal
2. Chelsea
3. Man City
4. Tottenham
5. Man United
6. Liverpool

After writing that list this year is going to be one wide open league. I am super pumped to get up bright and early tomorrow and watch man city vs. spurs.

Player of the Year: Cesc Fabragas (his last season with the gunners before he goes to Barca)

I have a football preview coming in the next few weeks. I will most likely write it while flying to LA.

half marathon

Last year I ran a marathon in june. This October I am going to back to the race circuit with participation in the monster dash half marathon on October 30. I am very excited on many different levels to run this.
1. Gives me a goal to work towards
2. It will be the fall
3. It leads right up to halloween
4. Having already trained for a marathon, this won't be as tough.

I start my training tomorrow, but have been running for the last few weeks and have felt well. I am excited to see what the luce line looks like as the trees change color in the fall.

I am heading to california in just over 2 weeks to visit and am excited for that. I have been lucky enough to go out to Mark's cabin the last few weekends which has been amazing. The summer is winding down and fall is upon us. I am going to enjoy the rest of summer, but will welcome the fall with open arms.

That is all for now.

p.s. I am taking the fall league for kickball off.

Post World Cup entry

It seems I have been rather busy lately, when in reality I haven't been. I can't imagine if I actually had responsibilities in my life how terrible it would be for me. I don't do well with juggling things so my schedule remaining with work, video games, and sleep is perfect for me.

There is not too much new in my life. I have been hanging with Chris (pause for everyone to cringe) lately because he is my only friend who is always free and around to hang. I guess that is a perk to his awesome living situation. I am going to California in about 5 weeks for a few days. I am very excited to visit out there and see my parents, the kitties, and Bobby. I will also be going to In N' Out Burger as soon as I drive by one. I can't wait for that moment.

Kickball just finished last Thursday and we lost in the semis. It was a disappointing end to a fun year. I played like garbage the last game. We should have won, but lost 1-0 on some bullshit. I guess there is always next year...if I play. There is a fall league, but I am not sure if I will be playing. I signed up for last year's fall league, but it sucked so I never went. I am hesitant to play this fall. I also am leaning toward running a half marathon at the end of October (http://www.teamortho.us/Monster-Dash-1/2-Marathon/), which also costs $65. I am leaning towards the half right now 70/30. Can you change my mind? Maybe, but probably not so much. If anyone wants to run it with me that would be awesome. What is better than running for 2 hours and then going home and watching college football on October 30th!?

Vikings camp opens Friday. It is still 6 weeks from week 1, but preseason is a nice stepping stone. The premier league starts 2 weeks from Saturday so once that is back in my life I am good to go. After going to Brit's for the world cup games I would enjoy going for some of the bigger match ups. It would definitely be a great environment.

I got some rather kickass plans this weekend. I'm trying to get to the drive in thursday night and then allegedly going to the Twins game on Saturday. Ohh don't worry I will have my 2010 fantasy football preview mag to ensure I don't fall asleep (YAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWNNNNNN).

My sleep schedule is so fucked. Time to watch Pirates 2 (disney, not the porn) and go to sleep to attempt to wake up at 1 to get a run in. It is tough to get out of bed at 1. It might as well be 6 am because thats what the fuck is feels like.

I'll try and do interesting things in my life so I will update more. The podcast is coming along nicely. There are plans to record our first episode very soon and there is also a new blog in the works, that, if done well, could lead to a book deal! Stay tuned!

june 23, 2010

I'm going for a run to burn off this energy. Wtf Just happened. You want some excitement? Go in the Long Room at Brit's when Landon scored that goal. Sitting through miss after miss of sitters in front of the net. I honestly thought the soccer gods were showing american fans (the nu lot) how fucking cruel this sport can be. I'll be back with a reaction in a bit. I am so proud of my boys though. God damn. Anyone that wants to go to brit's with me sunday just let me know. I'll be there when the doors open.

brb

Well I will try and briefly put some thoughts here. I couldn't sleep too well last night because I was nervous and it was thudering very loud. I woke up at 5:15 and thought it was almost time to get up until I came to my senses and realized I didn't need to get up until around 6;30. Finally woke up at 630, took a shower and set out on my way. I picked my brother up and we got to brit's around 7:15 (opened at 7:30). Watched some Wimbledon and waited.

The US had the majority of the play. especially in the 2nd half, but they just couldn't find a goal. I thought it was a wrap when it got under 5 minutes. I thought it just wasn't our day. I thought everyone who isn't a diehard soccer fan would see the pain and anguish that came with dominating a team, but not getting a result. Then donovan went on a run and ended up knocking the ball in the back of the net in the 91st minute.

Brit's was packed and we had one of the best seats in the house; big screen in front of us with a flat screen to our northwest with the england game on. The pop when donovan scored was unbelievable. It was screaming for about a minute straight. I had goosebumps for a few minutes after. When the final whistle went and we won it was glorious. I still feel amazing. The run I went on was because I can't just drink before work to calm down. I figured I would run and burn some energy off, which has helped a little bit.

I believe the next game is sunday. I will be at brit's bright and early if anyone wants to join for a day of football (I'll be there all day saturday as well me thinks).

What a great win for US Soccer! GET THE FUCK IN YOU YANKS!!!!

World Cup Day 1

Game #1 South Africa 1 Mexico 1 Game#2 France 0 Uruguay 0

An exciting first game of the 2010 world cup. I went to tyler's early in the morning to watch it since I had to work in EP at 3. It was a pain getting up (read: last night was a train wreck to one extent and an amazing night to another), but I did and go sorted. The world cup being here is definitely amazing and needs to be one of the only things that could get me up on 2.5 hours of sleep when I have a shift in the afternoon.

I am almost off of work and tomorrow is a big big day. Gonna be at Brit's downtown bright and early and gonna get a warm up game in with Nigeria vs. Argentina only to have the main event served up at about 1:30 with the US boys vs. the dirty red coats. I CAN NOT WAIT. Should be some good dudes there. Got some boys flying in for the game so hopefully it will be a fun, enjoyable atmosphere with a good amount of silly banter! I'll check in tomorrow with a recap of the day's events.

WORLD CUP

I saw Nick Swardson tonight at the bar.
We won tonight and I played great, like the rest of the team.
We won at flip cup tonight.
I had a lot of fun at the bar tonight.
Tomorrow the World Cup starts.
This will be one of the most fun months of my next 4 years.
I bought an American flag tonight.
I am going to Brit's Pub with buddies early Saturday to watch the USA vs. England game.

I am so happy. I just wish some of my buds from over the pond could be here to see the US rock some dirty redcoats!!

COME ON MEN! GET THE FUCK INNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!

"I am very afraid that this is the climax of my life"

Did I mention how much I love postsecret.com and all the books that go along with it? No? Well I love post secret and everything about it.

Not much is new with me, planning some trips for the rest of the year. We are going camping this summer so if anyone is interested please let me know. I am going to california over christmas and possibly in August. I cannot wait for that. I haven't been there since August 2003 when the sun tried to kill me.

I have the next 3 days off. It is the first time in about 5-6 weeks that I have more than 1 day in a row off. I bet I will want to go back to work by Friday afternoon. Do I love work? Fuck no. Do I love the satisfaction that I get from working? Absolutely. I actually enjoy working at the hotel and interacting with people everyday. That is something I never thought I would say. I was never scared of people, but I just wasn't good at the small talk with randoms. Now I can kick some ass at that quality, which I look forward to doing at Dan's wedding reception.

Dan, did you get my message? I have been honing my small talk skills. I just need to know if it is ok I am coming a little late, and what I am supposed to wear. Like I said, I have never done the wedding thing and I have no idea what this is about. Any information would be appreciated.

Time to go watch some tv and get some sleep. I am excited to run tomorrow (got that work out bug back) and then run shit at Bryn Mawr!

Memorial Day

(moment of silence)

There is a Band of Brothers marathon on tv all day today. I guess that is what lies ahead for me.

Morning (quick) thoughts

I'm about to go get more sleep cause I work later but here are some quick thoughts.

Tyler puked on my leg last night. He was laying on his back downtown outside of jimmy johns downtown mumbling something. I saved his ass from getting tossed in the drunk tank (your welcome).

Dan, new format indeed. It is the only one I could find (after looking for a minute) that allowed me to post youtube clips without getting cut off. I personally like the dark background, but alas couldnt find anything after my extensive minute search.

Happy Memorial Day weekend to my readers! I will be working today through Sunday. I already look forward to Sunday night.

p.s. I'm turning in my drinking shoes for a bit.

"I ain't telling you shit race trader!"

That is a quote from a little boy in sons of anarchy. His dad is neo-nazi that is feuding with SAMCRO. Why did I start off this blog with that? Well because I am finally watching the last few episodes from last december and that just was said.

Anyway I haven't updated in a bit because there really isn't much new with me. It is work and then life away from work which usually has to do with sleeping, tv, video games, or running (which I just started to get back into the groove of).

Kickball has started and is so much fun. I look forward to my thursdays every week like it is Christmas. The team is awesome and the partying is awesome and almost everyone in the league is there to have fun, which is why I am there. It is good times all around.

I work friday-sunday of memorial day weekend, but have memorial day off. I like memorial day. I like what it stands for and appreciate the bullshit that the service men and women put up with. It goes without saying the sacrifices they have made and keep making is extremely honorable.

Now that the tv season is over my video game playing has gone up big time. I am 24.5 years old and I play a lot of video games. I don't see that changing in the next 5 years. I am still trying to decide if that is a problem or not. I looked at my bed this morning and I still have my bed from when I was 5. It still has stickers on the headboard dinosaurs and cars. I have a spongebob stuffed pillow that is always on my bed and a lion puppet on a bed post. If any girl saw my room they would most likely wonder what my deal was. I don't know what my deal is though. I can't let some of that go. I guess I come back to the whole growing up thing a lot, but I do forget how old I am. The way that my life is at the moment (no girl, limited responsibilities) could I really be 27 and have the same situation? I think it is!

That was a nice ramble, and I will leave you with a Bart Simpson quote (after laughing at Itchy and Scratchy with Lisa) "Lisa, if I ever stop liking violence please shoot me in the face."

:-)

Life Advice

Last night Tom sent me a text asking for any tips for kickball. I (unknowingly) gave him life advice.

"Be as friendly as possible to everyone. Always have a beer in hand, but that doesn't mean you need to get drunk. Enjoy the bar after because it is amazing."

To any of my kickball comrades that read this, it really is all you need to know. :-)

AKK AKK ADAKK, Dis, Dat, emphasis on Lat

Just some random thoughts on a late Saturday/early Sunday. I am watching The Guardian on tnt at the moment. Kevin Costner and Ashton Koosher in a movie about Coast Guard Rescue swimmers. Obviously it is a movie, but man the shit these guys in real life do is ricockulous. As you probably know I have a mega-boner for all things military/soldiers and really feel like a waste when you see what a lot of these dudes are doing. Big ups to them, that is some serious shit.

I drank too much last night and felt like shit all day today/ate some cold pizza that made me feel like shit after sitting in my stomach all day until I eventually puked not once, but twice in about 3 hours. They were gross, sound like I'm dying pukes. Ughh I hate throwing up. Anyway, I don't drink like I used to. Those days have passed me and it is days like today where my body gives me a big fuck you. Needless to say it is gonna be a long time until I drink too much again.

Working at the hotel means that whenever I see someone I smile and see how they are. As you are aware that's just what you do to make sure you be as pleasant as possible. I'm like 90% of the population in which when you make eye contact with someone you usually just look away or give a second or so glance. Tonight I caught eyes with a girl working at chipotle. I was towards the back of the line, but when we made eye contact I just smiled out of habit. She was giving me the blank look, but once I smiled she smiled right back. It is nice to get smiles from anyone. It sounds dumb, but right away I decided to start smiling at randoms more. It's just a little something that is easy and can make someone's day. The girl probably went home and tweeted "holy fuck, kickball legend smiled at me tonight!!! #sodreamy".

I digress. I still wish I had a cat. I am usually alone most of the time between my hours and Andy's hours. It is fine, I don't mind being alone, but having a furry little friend would be so kick ass. Maybe I will just get a tamagotchi to love?

Enough of my ramblings. Time to play some super mario galaxy and look forward to a Sunday of nothing but sitting on my ass and watching tele.

Pets

I really need a pet in my life. Right now, it isn't realistic to have one, but soon enough I will start my animal sanctuary and it will be amazing. Until then I need to live vicariously through photo essays like this one. This just makes me think of Maizy and how we got her as a stray (not a kitten, but dangerously malnourished. I can't wait to rescue a cat or 5...

MAY

It has been a a fast 4 weeks since I have blogged. My apologies. I forget that there are a decent number of people that do check out this blog. It is usually admitted when we are drunk and it comes out, god knows no one would admit they read this garbage sober.

What is new?

Well my job has been going well. The 3-11 shift kicks all kinds of ass. I love it. I have every other weekend off, which is much better than needing to work a saturday or sunday every weekend. Getting off at 11 means that I can meet people out after work and party since I don't need to wake up until 2 to get ready for the job. Most people that know me know that I love working. The satisfaction I get from work is nice, and also it justifies my days off when I watch tv and play video games all day long in my skivvies.

420 was the other day and I celebrated with Andy. We then went to old chicago to get some eats and drinks. Their happy hour (half priced apps) ends at midnight and we got there at about 12:15. We ordered food anyway only to have the waitress come back and say that here screen was still on the happy hour so our apps were half priced. It was just a sign that the 420 gods were smiling down and we made the correct decision. I forgot how much I missed smoking bud. Memories of high school come flooding back. Ok I'll stop talking about this now because I could write for days and days.

I have been talking to different people and I am excited for this summer. I am excited for every summer, but this summer has a feeling it could be awesome. Kickball starts up in less than 2 weeks and I am super excited for it. This year our team will have mostly people I know which is good because last year, while I had a lot of fun, my team sucked minus tyler, ess, and maybe 2 other people. They were a bunch of losers who never went to the bar on Thursdays. Going back to the fact that it is people I know and like also means that they love drinking and drinking. That is really what kickball is all about. The thought of kickball back in my life is such a sweet idea.

I think this might just be the summer that I actually get to go camping with some friends. I have wanted to go for the last 5 summers, but it never worked out. This summer seems like it is going to happen though. There are numerous people that have showed interest so hopefully this will be the summer I finally go camping.

I'm planning another thing towards the end of the summer, but there is no point in posting it here because of the public backlash. Just know I am who I am and, though it sounds like a bad idea, I am rather excited for it.

I have milked this post for about 8 hours. That is all for now. Pictures to follow soon!

changes

Well the last week feels like a month. I have had so many different emotions it is a little surreal. I moved out of my house for good on Tuesday. After how hectic it was from friday-tuesday night I was ready to get out.

I forgot how much work it was to move. Damn I did not get much sleep over those 4-5 days. I was staying up really late, and waking up really early. Everything got moved and everything, ohh except my ping pong table that tyler said he would take. Fuck you btw tyler. Thanks for that extra hassle. (Just a word of advice; don't say you can take something and you have a way to transport it and then get cold feet AND then tell me that it wouldn't fit in the truck you would use anyway. I can be a dick, but I don't pull shit like that on my friends. So yea, fuck you.)

I was worried about my cats going on the airplane. They were flying carry on, since jessi is nuts and maizy is really old. I was worried about the 5 hour flight and just didn't know how they would do. I was really relieved when I talked to my parents and found out that they were fine and were very well behaved. I already miss those 2 felines.

I moved in with andy for good on Tuesday night after I took my parents' luggage to their hotel. I got back so late that I didn't have energy to put together my bed so I just slept on the couch. It was mighty comfy and it was the best sleep I had in 4-5 nights.

I went in to the hampton inn in eden prairie wednesday and got a job to be a "front desk representative". So I started training thursday and have been doing their online training and learning their computer apps. I'm happy I have something to do now and will be getting legit hours. It will be a little challenging at first, but I am sure it will be easy money within a few weeks. I also will have to wear a shirt and tie (what!?), but after these last 3 days dressed up it is alright. I do need to go get some khakis and shirts though. I have hundreds of t shirts and 1 button down...the times they are a changing.

So in the span of a few days I moved to new residence and got a job. It definitely has been a whirlwind. I am gonna miss having my parents around though. I watched the pacific with my dad sunday night and memories of fall 2001 came flooding back to me when Band of Brothers was out and we would sit down together every sunday and watch simpsons, malcolm in the middle and then band of brothers. Those were the days.

It was a good run on garland lane. It is cliche, but if those walls could talk they could get a movie deal with the amount of stories they had. Countless drunken nights of terrible decisions. I'm excited for my current situation though. Living with Andy should be a good time. Here is some pics of my room:

Actually on the White Castle website...

Photobucket

It makes me want some white castle. I want to be invited for a party just so I have a reason to bring a crave case.

Tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day. It really isn't one of my more favorite holidays (My favorite is Memorial Day), but Bobby is coming home and I guess there are plans to go out somewhere. I haven't drank since New Years (or right after) so maybe I will have some drinks.

I don't like drinking in the winter time. It is too cold out and I would rather just stay inside and mope about how darn cold it is. It has been mild recently so that is exciting and spring is almost here. I cannot get over that the snow is all gone. that is awesome on a lot of levels.

I move in with Andy on Monday. I'm sure we will throw a big welcome party and I will invite all of my friends to it. Just joking, you will probably see less of me than you do now, but hey, that's just the way life is sometime. I am excited to move in with him though. I don't think I'm gonna miss living with my mom. I will miss the food, and she is great, don't get me wrong, but boy she loves talking AND she talks to herself, which drives me crazy.

NOOOOOOOO

Just found out Conan is coming to minneapolis to do a live show. I get the ticketmaster weekly email and it was nowhere on it yesterday. I just found out tickets went on sale this morning at 9. Go to look now and of course it is all sold out. Man that sucks. According to my sources they announced the show this morning and they went on sale this morning too. Could that be? That seems so fucking lame. Ohh well I will get over it.

Dis dat the lat

Negotiations are underway to keep me in Minnesota at least through the summer. I took the hometown discount, but am happy with the situation and think it will help me grow personally. I don't know if I am going to last another winter in Minnesota, but we will see what happens. Overall I am happy with the current situation and would like to thank my management team. I also would like to apologize to Chris Williams in advance, even though I never even see you.

That is Logorama. If you have 14 free minutes I suggest watching it because it is really cool and rather funny. It won an oscar for best animated short. I wish it was a feature length film because it really kicks ass.

Happy Birthday Dan!

I want to give some Birthday Wishes to Dan Frost who turns 24 today. Good on ya fella. Hope things are good in Montana!

According to my desk calendar...

It is March tomorrow! Ohh wow that just screams optimism. It has been noticably more light out and it is actually in the 30's! I just looked at this week's forecast and starting with Monday it is 34, 35, 37, 37, 38. That is amazing. I am rather happy that March has arrived. I can finally get out and run again without the worry of ice destroying my body.

New show I am watching. It is called the inbetweeners and it is about english highschool friends. It is rather amazing. Anyone watching this already?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ddcHpKwT9s (sorry I can't embed it). I wish America could put funny shit like this on network tv. I can't stand how socially conservative we are in this country. Bad language and nudity are the devil though! Do not forget that.

I enjoyed the Olympics like usual. I thought the US had the game today once they tied it, but it wasn't meant to be. I am still proud of the team though. Those boys just brought their hard hats and lunch pails and went to work game in and game out. It is nice to see American hockey represent on the world stage like that. I will miss watching the American flag raised in the air with the national anthem playing. That is my favorite part of the Olympics. I really really wished that the Star Spangled Banner would be booming from Canada Hockey Place after the game tonight, but my wish didn't come true. It is ok though, they made me proud and I am happy for that.

It is almost March Madness time. Let the madness begin!

Getting Sick

So I woke up in the middle of the night sneezing and with a runny nose. I was congested a little when I woke up this morning, and now I have a cough coming on. Getting sick is such a bad feeling because it is only gonna get worse. I haven't been sick for close to 2 years. I am not looking forward to this. The only good thing that comes from being sick is that it puts into perspective how nice not being sick is. It is easy to take for granted my health, but the occasional cold helps level me out I guess.

I saw shutter island last night. I thought it was a sweet movie.
I saw wolfman last week and I thought it was a bad movie.

I started this at like 10 this morning and now it is 1 am...

It feels like I have a leak in my right nostril. It has been running all day and I am been sneezing a fair amount. My throat isn't sore though so I am in ok shape. My nose is a little sore (don't you hate that from blowing you nose too much?!).

I have been watching hockey since 2 this afternoon and am almost done for the night and am excited for bed. I definitely feel a little drained from this mini cold I have. It has been an entertaining day of games though. I do love the olympics, and they make my boner rage for the world cup this june. I CANNOT WAIT.

Sorry to the east coast for all that snow and rain and wind that is supposed to start tomorrow. I would contemplate taking a pillow and laying outside and just dying. That is so gross. It is almost March. I was looking at the average temps for March yesterday. By the end of the month the average high is 49! That will be so amazing. Will I still even be here? I have no idea, but if I am I will enjoy the warmer weather.

Ah Ha!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20100221/sc_livescience/napsclearthemindhelpyoulearn

I am such a advocate for naps in the afternoon. They re-energize you and make you fresh. There is no doubt about it in my mind. I have gone weeks without naps and staying up for 16 hours straight (while working). I would always hit a wall at about 2 pm and then for 20 minutes be so sluggish and just want to sleep. After that 20 minutes I would feel fine, but having a nap in there would be better because I was never productive during those 20 minutes (would usually just go into a stall in the bathroom and take a cat nap for 10 minutes anyay ;-) ).

Still in the process of figuring out my future. I applied to some jobs this past week, but haven't heard anything. I am applying everywhere these days. Banks, warehouses, rose gardens. I'm just really excited to put this college education to use!

What to do What to do

Well I didn't get either of the jobs I interviewed for. That is a little disappointing. I felt so close for the one I interviewed for last Thursday so having that come back negative was rather crummy. The other one I wasn't too surprised that I didn't get, I wasn't too sad either.

Now I have 33 days until this house is gone and time is ticking on what I figure out to do. Ugh what a pain in the ass, yet it is also a little emancipating, but also a pain in the ass. I really have no idea what to do. I can't lie and say that California is not tempting, because it sure as fuck is. There is no point to go out there though because that is the worst job market in the country. But the weather is so amazing! Damn I really need to figure this out and I am not good at decision making stuff like this. I have one side of me that wants to stay here and I have another side of me that wants to leave. I got some soul searching to do.

I'm in love

My blog followers will be the first to know how this adventure plays out!

Guilty Pleasure lately: grouphug.us and post secret. I love these sites/books and can't get over them. Everyone has secrets and it is comforting to know that. I just love reading peoples secrets and confessions though. Talk about endless entertainment.

Success!?

Well my interview was today. I got about 4-5 hours of sleep, which was good and I woke up well rested. I had some breakfast and took a shower and felt good and tried to get my nerves under control.

I knew I was meeting with 2 people, but didn't know if it would be at the same time or not. It was at the same time, which at first I was kinda nervous about just because it is just one more person in the room. There was also another person who was in on a teleconference. Uh-oh. It all went really well I thought though. The people I met (a guy in late 30's-early 40s and a girl mid 20's) were really nice and asked basic questions and none of the stupid ones. I thought most my answers were solid except for the answer to "explain the difference between marketing for business to business and business to person". I definitely had no idea for that one so I made up some bullshit. I thought it went well though, it took about an hour and went by very fast. I think after doing this interview all the rest will be a lot easier for the fact that the unknown is a little out of the way and I have confidence that I can do well in selling myself.

Dan-I appreciate your kind words. I didn't get pics of myself in the suit, but I will get some before the weekend is out.

Jennifer- That is my attitude basically for life. If it doesn't go well, fuck it. If it goes well cool, if not I'll just keep on going forward, no big deal. :-)

My mom called me tonight from california. She said it was about 50 degrees and it is supposed to be 70 this weekend. This makes me want to move out there. I really just want to run outside, and I can't do that with all this snow on the ground. I could do that in california though...

I still have to run 365 miles this year and am at 0. When these streets are clear my inner Prefontaine for be shining!

Cautiously Optimistic

(after writing this I have put in this warning that this is just hogwash that I needed something to put down so I can go back and look at it in a few weeks/months/years.) Proceed if you want...

Tomorrow morning I have my interview. I am nervous, but excited. Does anyone like these? Whenever I think of interviews I think of people who can think on their feet and do it very well. I am not one of these types of people. I have prepared as best as I can though and am confident I'll do just fine. I just talked to my parents too so it's always assuring to know people got your back. Of course there will be a post interview blog post of whatever happens good or bad. This is the first time in a few weeks that I am legit tired before midnight. I hope I can sleep tonight.

p.s. maybe you will get that limited edition picture of sean in a suit!! (the thought makes me cringe and shiver and get goosebumps)

So long

Photobucket

It's a small picture, but my parent's house sold. It closes on March 24th so hopefully I will have some sort of living arrangements figured out by then.

I am happy it sold, house showings are such a pain in the ass. Needing to make my bed everyday was so stupid I just started sleeping on top of the comforter and just used a blanket i would keep folded in my closet. I know it's lazy, but making the bed just seems like a sucker's game to me.

I got a job interview (!!!) on Thursday so we will see how that goes. Getting a job right now would be rather spectacular. It's a marketing communications position at a company called entegris.

So that is the news in my life over the past few days. My mom is in California this week so I got the house to myself...party!!...or just sit around in silence and prepare to try not to fail at my interview.

Edward Sharpe

and the Magnetic Zeros. Anyone hear their stuff? Is it as amazing as this song?

I heard this song before hear and there and liked it a lot. I heard it on New Years eve and was getting drunk and remember rocking out to it with Ty and Kelly (among other great songs) and then forgot about it. Watching 24/7 Jimmie Johnson count down to Daytona on HBO the other night they did an amazing montage at the end of the episode with this song and I decided to find who sings it. So the question remains: Is their other stuff as amazing as this song?

Random stuff

I woke up to snow again today. Apparently 4 inches when its all done by late this afternoon. Yahoo.

I'm addicted to sugar, yet again, and trying to get out of that witch's dirty grasp. Tis tough though.

I can't wait to see shutter island. Behind Robert Downy Jr. (I saw sherlock holmes for the 2nd time and urge people to see that movie if you haven't. It is so much better than Avatar. Speaking of Avatar; if you have yet to see The Hurt Locker you are doing yourself a disservice. That movie will get its due after it wins best picture, but do yourself a favor and see it before it wins. It is amazing.) Leo is the man. The guy does it all and Shutter Island looks incredible.

Shows i am currently following:
Mondays: 24, Chuck
Tuesdays: Lost, Damages
Wednesdays: The Middle
Thursday: The office, Survivor Heroes vs. Villians next week!
Sunday: 60 minutes, soon amazing race

I catch up with other shows here and there. That new spartacus show on STARZ about the gladiator is rather cool. I saw that pilot and between the grusome fight scenes and the hotness of the chicks and the frequency of said chicks naked make it a worthwhile show to watch.

Had to add this pic of captain chaos fishing. He is so awesome!
Photobucket

Picture blog post coming sometime in the next few days. Most likely before Sunday. So you got that to look forward to.

EDIT: Just watched this week's Chuck and really enjoyed the song towards the end. I look up who it is and it is none other than Edward Sharpe! You can't make this stuff up. Definitely cool and I am definitely a fan now. Chuck has such awesome music. That show kicks so much ass it should be illegal.

Random thoughts on a Saturday night

(I'm bored/trying to fall asleep late on a saturday. Thoughts pop in my head...)

The sound I hate the most in the world is a metal spoon/knife/fork on a metal bowl. Ohh dear goodness that gets me every time. I can't bear that at all. If you ever want to get me good just do that.

I can't stand touching or being touched on my left knee ever since I had surgery there. I don't know why, I just hate it. I need to have my left knee covered by something when I sleep/nap. This could be pants, it could be a blanket/sheet/etc., but it must be covered by something. I don't know why.

I hope someday I can justify why I watch so much tv when I am this young. My future wife (err, umm, this is awkward) is watching as much tv as me right now. This being the case I will need to go about some way to find that cute girl who is obsessed with tv, but also loves sports, and a rather active lifestyle. Ok, I would settle for 2 out of 3 of those.

Each day that passes I feel more and more like a failure. I then put things into perspective and don't, but still kinda do. I am really am trying hard to find work, that's the frustrating part of this process. It makes me feel a little normal when, during phone interviews, the interviewer will mention how they got "swamped" with applications. It really is that bad out there.

Going with Tyler's advice, I am gonna bust winter. In fact I'm gonna bust all over whats left of this cruel witch winter. Thanks for the inspiration Tyler!

There are my random thoughts on a cold Saturday.

Good Night

Saturday, January 30, 2010

It's been a good last few months. I was entertained every Sunday and Monday. I won $80 in my fantasy league (top $ money), I watched more football than I ever had, and I got sucked in at the end of the season and got spit out like a bad blow job.

After a few days of reflection and anger and emptiness and despair and silly talk I am back on the sports bandwagon. It is pathetic how low sports can make people when 99.99% have no effect on the outcome. That is life though.

Highlights of this nfl season (off the top of my head):

Discovery of the redzone channel
Rex Ryan
Jets Playoff Run
Brett Favre on the Vikings
Jared Allen's segment on vikings weekly
Frank Caliendo's fox segment
Scott Hanson
Gus Johnson's week 1 call of broncos-bengals
Double tv set up

See you in September NFL. I will miss you so much. I said that I wouldn't watch the superbowl, but that was sad sean talking. Of course I will watch the superbowl. That doesn't mean I will enjoy it at all, because I won't.

"Looks like it's over, you knew I couldn't stay..."

Cloud 9

Well this will be a Sunday that will be hard to top for a while. Vikings destroyed the cowboys and the jets scratched and clawed their way to a win and a birth in the afc championship at indy next Sunday. Wow. I was so emotionally spent after watching that jets game. It was the first game of the playoffs that had that playoff feel to it. Good D, every 1st down is huge, low scoring, etc. The Jets just find ways to win and they are playing the way I love; blue collar, hard nosed, mother fucker-like, take no prisoners style.

The vikings just kicked 6 different kinds of dog shit outta the cowboys today. The icing on the win was the last touchdown. If it was a high school game and a team was running up the score that is one thing, but when you get paid a lot more money than I will ever see to play this game please don't play the "no class card". Keith Brooking, if you are so mad that they scored on that play DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! NO ONE IS STOPPING YOU! DO SOMETHING! You are washed up anyway, but to be mad at that touchdown made you look like a bitch. Were they supposed to kick the field goal? Should they have taken a knee? Thanks for getting me riled up though you dumb ass. Didn't you guys just run up the score on Philly the last 2 weekends? I am so happy to see the cowboys get bent over. They were believing their own hype and got what was coming to them.

I got an odd feeling the jets are gonna be in the super bowl. They got a swagger and confidence and just play. I would not want to play them right, doesn't matter what squad you have. Vikings played great today and that NFC championship game is a "getcha popcorn ready" type match up. Ohh boy next Sunday is gonna be wild. Championship sunday my friends!

Sunday, January 17, 2010

jets and vikings today

Vikings in about 45 minutes and the Jets in a little over 4 hours. I am amped up to go this Sunday ladies and gentlemen! I like the vikings. The combination of this like and the hatred I have for the cowboys, their fans, and the whole state of texas means the vikings need to come out and destroy. People are too high on the cowboys. You are coming up to our shitty hood full of crazy white folk boys!

Jets are the jets. They will battle and I do believe they will win today. Their D is awesome and their running game is starting to feel it with greene and TJ. That dumb hick phil rivers won't know what hit him.

Updates later tonight or tomorrow.

Steve Nash and other things

He is too damn funny.

I'm pumped for this sports weekend. I guess this weekend in general. Here are my rambling thoughts...

-Saturday I will be watching nfl playoffs with dave. We watched them together last week and it was damn fun, so we are doing it again.
-Cardinals over Saints, Ravens over Colts, Vikings over Cowboys, Jets over Chargers
-Sunday is fitting to be a great day of programing. Both the jets and vikings have playoff games. The Australian Open starts Sunday night here. Human Target (new show) and 24 (2 hour season premier) is on one after the other. Aziz's stand up premiers on Comedy Central Sunday nighht. Rickey Gervais is hosting the Golden Globes. Wow that is a jam packed day of some awesome programming!
-I am thankful for the weather warming up a little bit.

-here is a clip from one of my favorite shows Chuck. This song that starts playing is catchy, but the 2 girls in it sum up the hook perfectly. When I saw this I was basically drooling. (sorry embedding has been disabled, here is a link) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJnCX3pGqpo I love the blond, yvonne strahovski, a lot (forest gump voice).

This will give you a chuckle I think. Just seeing Aziz in the video makes it more than worth a viewing.

New look

Yes Dan, a new look for 2010. I like the dark background a lot more. Also it is so cold these days that I just hate my life. Ugh eff you cold! I also added a clock at the bottom of the page that counts down until May 1 I believe. This is just because that is when the weather is usually consistently warm and I am consistently in a better mood.

I just started watching Alias. Its an older show, but it is J.J. Abrams, and he can do no wrong. Anyone ever see it? It is espionage shiz, and I love all the stuff. I got a new battery charger for my camera that should be here tomorrow. Then there will be pics and pics. Maybe that will be the new title of my blog

Happy 2010!

I started out last night with chinese food and cake, and ended it at 5 am in tyler's bed. Here is a summary of the night..

Get to tyler's pad (thanks for hosting ty!) and start drinking at about 8:30 as tyler points to the clock to say it is time to get our drink on. A game of fuck the dealer between tyler, kelly, and myself insued...I got fucked.
Photobucket
Andy showed up with Tyler's rice paddy hat and added to the enjoyment.
Photobucket
As we were getting ready to leave tyler had to impress everyone with the flex his hockey shaft. Very nice tyler!!
Photobucket
We headed out to santorins, as it is Tyler's favorite watering hole and had some shots, and beers with some older people. Ty knows the bartenders and go a deal on the shots. He didn't help me out with the beers, but its no big deal...I just didn't tip. Just joking! Lydia met us there, which was fabulous (and she brought rice crispy treats that her mom made which were amazing!). Here is a great picture of (from left to right) bobby, andy, tyler, lydia, kelly. A great group of friends to bring in the new decade.
Photobucket
After santorinis we brought in the new year at Bayside, where Andy bartends. He got us beer and a bottle of bubbly for free. Thanks andy, it was awesome! We danced and whooped it up with older people in the dance floor. It was awesome.
Photobucket

We made it back to tyler's and unfortuantely the battery on my camera died so no more documentation, but it was just a great group to be around and I really enjoyed myself. I was watching Rocky 2 with bob and going crazy. I'm sure I made him rethink our friendship. Sorry Bobby.

Andy, Tyler, and myself started talking fantasy hockey while watching a pond hockey documentary, then tyler passed out. I laid down on the couch and talked to Andy in the dark for about 30 minutes. After he left I scampered up to Tyler's bed and fell asleep only to wake up to him on the floor. We watched hockey and some movies.

Highlights of the night:
Tyler's car not having heat/defrost
The older crowd at both bars
Holding the door for a girl only to have her fall on ice as she walked out. Wow that was funny (she was drunk and didn't hurt herself).
Screaming "More Cowbell" to the girl playing the cow bell in the band at bayside.
