New years resolutions

First of all I just want to say that Bob is in town and we watched a chris rock stand up last night and both laughed rather hard at various parts. Chris had this whole thing of "married and bored or single and lonely" that I laughed really hard at. Also along those lines tyler and I each made a pact that we could kill the other one in certain circumstances. Needless to say we look forward to our fishing trips in 10 years together.

Resolutions:

1.Pictures in my blog posts. I have been saying I will do this, but I will. I promise.
2.Taking video with my camera of different things and posting it. To my hundreds of readers who ask who these people are who I hang out with you will soon find out.
3.Eat healthy. I ate healthy for about 10 weeks, and then halloween hit, and then thanksgiving, then christmas. It is also a lot easier to eat better when you work and have something to keep your mind off it.
4.Run atleast 1 mile everyday for the whole year. This is a ridiculous one. Maybe it should be run at least 365 miles in the year? Hmm we will see.
5.Find a place to live. Apparently my parents are moving. I gotta find someplace sometime soon.

tyler p. hoiseth: fishing buddy, friend, overall mood killer. Seen here with Tilly the kitty on the 4th at Jill's.

Maizy the cat. We brought her in as a stray in 1995. The vet said she was between 4-7 by his estimation. It is almost 2010. You can do the math. She is still awesome though.
Photobucket

Mark's cabin where we go on memorial day and the 4th. Heaven on earth.

I must take more pictures in the new year. Have a safe and enjoyable new year everyone. My blog will strive to be great.

Merry Christmas

I am not sure if it has stopped snowing/sleeting/raining yet, but there is a ton of white stuff on the ground and it really really looks like Christmas.

I still haven't opened presents yet which I am fine with, I just hope my parents didn't get me too much stuff because I don't need much of anything at the moment.

This morning I went along with chris, DA, and Dave Watson to a food shelter to hand out meals to the needy. Basically we were bringing trays of food to tables of 4 people. The meal consisted of ham, cheesy potatoes, green beans, a roll, a piece of cake, and milk. I was happy I got the chance to do it because I have never worked in that type of environment and thought it would be good to go out of my comfort zone, especially to help people in need on Christmas.

All 4 of us commented afterwards how it was a lot different than we imagined. We were all thinking that there would probably be a couple unruly people, but there were none. It was just a lot of people happy and thankful to have a nice meal (I tasted the food after it was done and was pleasantly surprised how good it was. I figured it would be shit food, but would get eaten anyway because its all they would be definitely getting today). Everyone (eaters/helpers) were thankful for us volunteering so that awesome. There were a couple children eating there, which was tough to see after coming from growing up with christmas being the greatest day of the year for me when I was their age, to seeing them eating in a hall with other people in shitty situations.

People were happy to be there and it wasn't some somber environment which is good. We were definitely joking around about different things. Chris was waiting for someone to ask to see the menu when he put a tray in front of them which I really enjoyed. At the end when we were eating with each other and asking for the wine list was along the same lines.

It was a good experience though and, like I said in my last post, a good thing to get perspective on my life at its current state. Merry Christmas everyone.

happy holidays

Happy holidays my loyal readership! The number of unique daily visitors has exponentially increased from two years ago. I can only thank you, my fans, for this feat!

I understand that christmas is the celebration of Jesus' birthday for christians, but to me it is an American holiday. I make fun of religion because of the nuts bible bangers that are out there so there is no need for me to associate any type of religious connotations with Christmas. I just relate presents, food, drinking, and friends with it. WHAT A HOLIDAY! I hope my friends have a great one, and I truly wish I could see all of them.

I saw Avatar last night in 3-d at Imax. Visually it was stunning, but it was too long for me, and the sci fi-ness was a bit much. It didn't help that I went at 10:45 at night either. I really dislike long movies. I rarely ever watch a movie in one sitting that is being watched in the confines of my house. This is just because I lose interest in 95% of movies about 45-60 minutes in. My mind starts to wander, my eye lids start to feel like they weigh 100 pounds, etc. I fell asleep last night for about 15 minutes, a power nap if you will, to get me ready for the last 90 minutes. It was looooong, and wasn't terrible (as I said last night, but that had to do with being tired, and the hot hot hot theater, which especially sucks when you dress for the winter!), but was just not my cup of tea. I was hoping a terminator would pop up and destroy everything. That would have made it awesome.

I am still looking for jobs. The applications I have submitted is easily in the double digits. Tough times all around and it just continues to get more and more frustrating. I continue to keep positive thoughts (even with the negativity that I surround myself in everyday (got tyler out of my life and somehow I hang out with Chris more, I can't win). I am waiting for the person to suggest me go back to school. It could be my dad, but whoever it is will get a chuckle and a "no way" in reply from me. Looking back on college these days I wonder how I did the school thing for four years after high school. I have said this before, but I honestly don't know what I learned there.

It is supposed to snow a lot tonight and tomorrow 10-12 inches total I think. Whatever, bring it on. I don't like the cold or snow after december 31st, but if it snows a lot these next few days I'm fine with it. Just don't knock out my cable, internet, and electricity and we are cool mr. snow.

On Christmas I am going to a soup kitchen to help feed the needy with some friends. I am looking forward to this experience to be able to help people in need. It will be a nice for me to put things back in perspective (as I complain I can't find a job) when helping those who are really in need.

Stay safe all!

Happy Holidays!

Best rapper alive?

Try best person alive (note: just listen to the first minute so you don't waste anymore of your time)

Wow, I heard he was doing a rock album, but I was thinking is was rap rock, not avril angst songs. This album doesn't come out until January, I can't wait for the uproar.

such little time and so much to READ!!!!!

I enjoy reading books, most of my friends know that. I am currently reading Where Men Win Glory: The Oddysey of Pat Tillman. Tillman was an nfl football player who gave up a multi-million dollar contract to join the army, go to ranger school (beast mode), and then serve his country. He died from friendly fire which was covered up. I didn't waste my time reading this book.

I hate wasting my time reading books because they take a lot of time commitment to finish. A good, regular 300+ page book will take me approximately 5 hours of reading time to finish (30 pages/hour avg. reading time, I know it is slow). Watching non-entertaining tv is something I don't do (it doesn't mean it isn't shitty and pathetic; Whats up Jersey Shore!?) because after an episode if something sucks I just say "you suck" and never think about it again. Watching a shitty movie is only a minor time commitment, and usually you can make fun of it with the people you saw it with. Reading a shitty book is bad. I haven't read a shitty book in a while. It is easy to ask: Why would you continue reading it if it was so bad? I need to finish it to see if it gets any better. Once I finish it and it never got any better that is when I feel very empty inside because of that massive amount of time wasted.

After the Tillman book is finish (about 40 pages left) I will read The Road, then finish a Vince Flynn book, and then see where I want to go from there. David Halberstam (awesome non-fiction writer) has a book called "The Coldest Winer" about the forgotten war (Korea) that is apparently amazing. He has one about vietnam (The Best and The Brightest) that is also supposed to be amazing. They are both long books, but I think I might dive into those early next year.

Greatest show ever?

Unfortuantely its only in England, but it is hard to imagine that it doesn't eventually end up over here considering the 3:30 clip of the show is amazing.

wtf

http://www.sefermpost.com/sefermpost/2009/12/somali-man-stoned-to-death-for-adultery-graphic-images.html

I can't take these barbarians anymore. I do believe in cruel and unusual punishment when people are tried in a court of law, not some village when people are forced to watch this garbage. A public stoning of a rapist/molester/Italian person seems fine by me. Islamic militants *shakes head* (sighs) I hate you so much

haha

This just makes me laugh. I saw it in the paper today as a blip and was interested for more info. Do girls watch porn? I know they do, but none admit to it, kind like masturbation.

scenes from the city

It has been a while I think since my last post. It has been the same story as the last 18 months in which I don't have much to write about as I am job searching and applying to whatever I can find, but not haven success. What can I do though? I have applied to part time jobs and haven't heard anything from then either. I am now going to become a professional lottery player and hope to bring home the powerball soon.

Thanksgiving was enjoyable 2 weeks ago. I ran in a 5k turkey trot Thanksgiving morning with Allie which was fun. After running the 5k I can't comprehend how I finished a marathon. I must have been on some crazy stuff, because, though I'm not running much these days, I was still a little fatigued after the trot. It is nice running when you know there is some awesome food and football (though shitty games) waiting for you.

Bob was home over thanksgiving which was rather awesome. It would be mighty sweet if he moved back here, but I don't blame him for not doing so. His thanksgiving fire was a lot of fun. There were drunk shenanigans that I looked forward to repeating when he is home for in a few weeks at his Christmas fire. The only thing that sucked was waking up at 9 am to his family getting back from the lake home. Andy, Becca, and myself were all in the living room sprawled out when the door opened and Andy and myself looked at each other with the "god dammit" look on our faces. The worst part is bob told us that they were coming home early and his room is so dark we could have slept all day. Instead we just left (separately) but concluded through text messages in our respective beds before passing out (for me, he probably got laid...jealous) that the rude awakening was a very depressing end to a great night.

The following night was Chris's birthday potluck, sausage fest, video game extravaganza. I brought a crave case from White Castle (and will be bringing one to the Christmas fire mentioned above as well). It was a fun night that involved halo (for queers right chris?) and eating a lot of food. My body hated me (and still hates me as I have been eating shitty for about 6 weeks straight) and the next morning my stomach just didn't feel good. Happy Birthday Chris! I hope it was a good one, and I will say my crave case was the best food there, hands down.

My birthday was last Monday, the 7th of December. I don't expect people to remember it, but they did, most because of facebook, so because of the Pearl Harbor association. I got some nice under armour coldgear stuff for working out in the winter (I hate the snow on the ground. I love running in the winter, but its pointless to run when snow is on the streets. It is too easy to get injured running on a surface that can be slippery). I hope to be able to use them soon. I used them the other morning when I was shoveling at 6:30 (not depressing because it was still dark. It gets depressing when the sun comes up and its frigid out) when the wind was blowing 25-35 mph and the wind chill was around -10. They worked rather impressively and kept me warm, so I am sold on those as being kick ass.

I have been hanging out with Andy and Chris lately. They are the only 2 people I see frequently, as everyone else has actually done something with themselves. We usually play video games until the wee hours and then I go home and lay in bed and wonder where I fucked up. I still haven't put a finger on it, but I think the words "hey want to play street hockey today" back in 2003 might have something to do with it...

I have been getting an itch to smoke weed again. I haven't smoked weed for a looooooooooooooooong time. I haven't been high (with no alcohol, only weed) since high school and I have an itch. I don't think my watching Weeds is helping the cause either. I guess I am cool with pills too. Xanax (never taken), any Narcotic, ritalin, anything to soften me up a little bit. I can see this being a problem, and the reason why I stopped smoking way back was because I liked it too much. Well, I still feel the same way, but am slowly breaking. I had a quality conversation with Andy and Jill a week ago about weed. Is this normal? I assume so, I am just kinda sick of living in a vanilla world.

I have been in negotiations with Andy about possibly moving in with him. Stay tuned for further details.

I am 24 years old and wish I wasn't. This past decade went by so fast and my pops tells me that it only goes faster as you get older. I can see how that happens and it is not sitting too well with me. I will try and put a best of the decade list going before the new year. I really have no idea what the next year brings for me, let along the next decade, but I do know that I want spring to come sooner than later.

Sick of this cold weather
