I am not sure if it has stopped snowing/sleeting/raining yet, but there is a ton of white stuff on the ground and it really really looks like Christmas.
I still haven't opened presents yet which I am fine with, I just hope my parents didn't get me too much stuff because I don't need much of anything at the moment.
This morning I went along with chris, DA, and Dave Watson to a food shelter to hand out meals to the needy. Basically we were bringing trays of food to tables of 4 people. The meal consisted of ham, cheesy potatoes, green beans, a roll, a piece of cake, and milk. I was happy I got the chance to do it because I have never worked in that type of environment and thought it would be good to go out of my comfort zone, especially to help people in need on Christmas.
All 4 of us commented afterwards how it was a lot different than we imagined. We were all thinking that there would probably be a couple unruly people, but there were none. It was just a lot of people happy and thankful to have a nice meal (I tasted the food after it was done and was pleasantly surprised how good it was. I figured it would be shit food, but would get eaten anyway because its all they would be definitely getting today). Everyone (eaters/helpers) were thankful for us volunteering so that awesome. There were a couple children eating there, which was tough to see after coming from growing up with christmas being the greatest day of the year for me when I was their age, to seeing them eating in a hall with other people in shitty situations.
People were happy to be there and it wasn't some somber environment which is good. We were definitely joking around about different things. Chris was waiting for someone to ask to see the menu when he put a tray in front of them which I really enjoyed. At the end when we were eating with each other and asking for the wine list was along the same lines.
It was a good experience though and, like I said in my last post, a good thing to get perspective on my life at its current state. Merry Christmas everyone.
