wow
I had to write this down.
You ever have one of those days that end up being extremely exhausting, yet you were not mentally prepared for it? I just completed one of those days that started with running 6 miles in slippery snow. I woke up at 8:45 going on about 5 3/4 hours of sleep and am about to go to bed at around 2:30 am. For once in an extremely long time I feel like I have actually earned my warm bed on my quiet street. What an enjoyable/rewarding/tiring Saturday. Good night friends.

Mr. Conan O'Brien
C/O Late Night with Conan O'Brien
30 Rockefeller Plaza
Room 901W

Dear Mr. O'Brien,
I wanted to write you first and foremost to thank you for everything that you have done for people like myself. People who laugh at things that are genuinely funny. People who love dirty humor and pushing the limits of being awesome. There are a good amount of us out there who have watched you for a long time in the 12:35 time slot.
I first starting watching you daily in December of 2000. I would catch you in the summers before that daily, and here and there during the school year. When I finally got a TV for Christmas in 2000 I was pleased to know that you would be on the TV making me laugh as I fell asleep from Monday-Friday (back then your shows were usually reruns on Monday, no gripes here though). I would always laugh at whatever it was you were doing that night. Analogies for the SATs, Desk Driving, Taking you Taurus for a spin, Satellite TV surfing, Via Satellite, In the year 2000, If they Mated, Hollywood secrets, Hollywood guest book, 5th grade coloring, Joe's bar, horny manatee, state quarters, stamps, etc, etc, etc. You never had a show that made me think "wow I didn't laugh at all". You are not afraid to call out silliness of the show and I love that. People can say that you are vulgar or childish, but I don't. Your show has been such a staple for myself for the past 9 years that in just over 24 hours I won't know what to do.
I am lucky to have had you in my late night life for as long as I have. I have watched you for over half of your late night career. I have heard the better half, but I cannot judge that. I can honestly say that you are the best late night host that I have come across. Adding up Letterman, Leno, Kimmel, etc. together and they are still nowhere near your stratosphere. I honestly feel that when your time of hosting late night TV is over you will go down as the best. Your demeanor to your guests is of genuine interest. It is easy to tell when you carry an interview from some prick celebrity who couldn't give 2 shits for being on your show. You carry them though, you make them look good, but I know its mostly you. You are witty and cleaver and can go off the cuff with the best of them.
I will never stop watching you, but I must say I will miss you on late night. Jimmy Fallon will most likely do a fine job with Late Night, but he won't be as good as you. It really isn't a far comparison for him though, I mean, you are the best. I am torn emotionally about your exit/promotion from late night. Obviously you will do the tonight show and will become bigger and get more viewers. You will most likely need to tone down some jokes too. Jokes that are amazing and vulgar and dirty. You cannot beat those jokes. The Paris hilton jokes. The kirstie alley jokes. The michael jackson jokes. All the controversy that you did was always great. They made people laugh. I guess myself, like many other loyal viewers, are just selfish and want to see you stay at late night. If people don't want to stay up late to watch you then fuck em, cause we were there most every night. I don't know how many times in the past 9 years that I have watched you with friends and you killed us with your jokes. I remember in high school one of my favorite things was going into school the next day after a show and talking about the show from the night before (remember those days Andy??). You were just an escape from whatever was going on in my life on that particular day. Bad day? You would give me laughs? Good day? You would give me laughs.
Good Luck Mr. O'Brien. I will wish you from Late Night with all my heart. It honestly hasn't hit me yet that you will not be on at 11:37pm after tomorrow night. Please do not change at all (wishful thinking, don't change too much though) and keep the crazy, kooky skits that are so great. You are the best. See you soon friend.
Sincerely,
Sean M. Moriarty

Valentine's Day
Yesterday was Valentine's Day. I went to Sonic with Chris (thanks for driving) Andy and Caffunky. It was a fun time for a Saturday night. I felt a little like high school for the whole Saturday night drive to savage (gross) to get some food. It was just a fun little ride and the juice was worth the squeeze (as they say) for the fact that the burger and shake that I had was amazing. So Valentine's day was good in that sense. My friend in Jersey, Jennifer, was the only person to wish me a Happy Valentine's Day (not even my mom! Damn Sue you slipping!) so you are awesome Jennifer. Much <3.
I am excited that February is already half over. Once March gets here it is so on. The weather warmed up at the very end of January and stayed decent (high 20's low 30's) only to drop back down now. Next Saturday it is supposed to be 10!! WTF!!?? That is a big bummer, but gotta just deal and keep on going forward.
MYSA (where I interned in 2007) just posted a job opportunity that was basically what I was doing as an intern there in that glorious summer of 2007. I have not applied to it yet, but I will. I'm sure hella people will apply for it, but I might have an inside track since I interned there and know everyone there and have good relations with the people there??? I don't know. I think it would be a really sweet place to work full time. Just working the summer there I built relationships with the people who worked on different league admin stuff and it was just great talking about how psycho youth coaches/parents are. So my hopes are up, but not too high because I don't have confidence in anything job-wise these days. Do me a favor though and cross your fingers for your ol' boy.
I have been looking at my livejournal entries from years past and come to the realization that to have a good blog one needs to do things aside from just posting what they do with friends who read this blog. That is where doing other things comes into play. I have already taken that idea and ran with it for my running journal. I think that will turn into something that will be memorable (at least for me, I really don't know if anyone is reading it at all or not) since it will be a good 4 months of the ups and downs of attempting to run a marathon. Well with that being said I think that the posts in this blog will be a little bit shorter until I actually do something with my life. I'll probably start coming up with some creative stuff to do. I will eventually start posting pictures and what not.
I really can't wait to fish this summer. I want to go fishing with anyone who wants to go. It would be a damn fun time to be fishing with some KQ on the radio, a chest full of bottles of beer and the sun out. Man I long for summer to be able to do that. I haven't drank much this year and there are 2 parts of that. One is my whole running/trying to get a little more fit, but the other is that drinking in the winter (indoors) is nothing like drinking outside in the summer. The warm weather, drinking outside at 8 pm and see the sun set gently to the west as a little buzz comes about. Man it is just a glorious feeling. I sincerely look forward to that feeling.
Check out my other blog if you want, give suggestions. I used to have so many followers, now I have 2. I am please to see a certain jbb who is checking out my blog now. Thanks Bender, I didn't know that was you so it was definitely a pleasant surprise to see you are blogging now. You can give me the inside info on when blagojovich goes for his runs and how he gets his hair to look like a lego person.

Conan said that on his show and I love it so much. There is not a truer/funnier statement to be said about blago's hair. Conan will be going off the air as late night host on Friday night. Look for a tribute to him in this blog in the coming days. Definitely gonna be a tough pill to swallow when the lights go out on Late Night with Conan O'Brien at 12:37 am Saturday morning.
Talk soon gang!!

Solid time wasting websites
Grouphug.us has been one of my alltime favorite websites. Its a popsecrect anonymous type website where you just read peoples anonymous confessions. Everyone has crazy secrets that are sad/weird/funny. I, personally, can read them for hours.
fmylife.com is a site I was just informed of that is absolutly amazing. People tell stories that happen to them during the day that sucked and end them with "fml". What a great website. Everyone in the world can be a frequent poster on that website. Glorious.
Its fitting to be another beautiful day in plymouth. Above freezing 2 days in a row? Thats wild like coyotes.

Sean's Little World
I figured I would attempt to go a little creative writing tonight and see where it takes me. Well I wrote a paragraph and didnt like the whole direction that we were sailing (it had a pirate theme and lebron was the parrot my my shoulder...needless to say didn't like it). So back to my ramblings...
What is up with this new phenomona on facebook with the "25 things list"? God damn people are such sheep. They saw 7 out of 10 people are stupid, and I think thats being awful kind. Jesus, let me paste this right now for myself to look back and shake my head (among thousands of other things in my life)... "Rules:
Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you."
Who the fuck started this and how did it pick up? random things about me? A: I don't like you. facts? read a fucking book morons, habits? making fun of sheep. goals? Fuck you. I make fun of these people because they deserve to be made fun of. I have been tagged in some of these and am tempted to make an extremely derogatory one. I won't do it because that would be a waste of time and energy for some stupid list that has to stop. This is the future of the world right here folks. People making a top 25 list about themselves because other people want to know more about them? Come on. I wish we could have a top 25 list of what they actually think about the people that tagged them. I can gaurentee that over 75% of the people tagged the author thinks ill towards, in someway or another. But keep it up friends, I do enjoy reading them, and laughing, and reading some more. Well that came out of nowhere, but i feel like I had to say it because I just don't get where this list idea popped up.
So I went to barnes and noble today to get out of the house because it was being shown and I am looking at a book on the new books shelf. It was a jack kerous and william burroughs book that was only recently published, but was written in the late 40's. About 5 seconds after I pick it up a lady next to me says "i want that, but am going to wait until it comes out in paperback." I look at her (she is about 2 feet to my left) where her eyes would be on her head and she is just looking straight at the books. I didn't say shit and keep looking at her and realize either a. this chick wanted me to say something or b. this chick was just talking to herself and being an annoying person at the book store. I looked at her again and put the book down. The moral of the story...make sure someone is truly talking to you before you look away from the summary on the book flap.
I'm going to start to learn spanish via the tapes/mp3. I'm just gonna load them on my sansa clip and listen to them. I don't expect to become fluent, but I do expect to start to pick up phrases and thats really all I need at this point in my life. Eventually I will be fluent in Spanish hopefully. Then I can go to the Caribbean and being my life as canteen boy for a cute little Caribbean piece.
Tom's girlfriend Jamie wants me to meet one of her "adorable" friends next weekend. I am skeptic at anyone who is referred to by one of their own as "adorable". Hey maybe its a puppy!? Since I am light on friends with female genatalia these days I might just go hang out. Of course I would go and then 2 minutes after meeting miss "adorable" I would be asking myself why I would ever say yes to anything like that. I do kinda want to go out on valentine's day and go to white castle. What a night that would be. SO there is comedy in that, and thats really what I'm all about, because as we all know; Its all bullshit. If I am lucky maybe this girl is employed and then I can just mooch off her. Jamie is cool though, but she dates tom, so that kinda puts her back at even (went up 3 points for being cool, down 3 for dating tom. It just isn't fair). Of course you and me both know I probably will come up with some great excuse like "I have to work in the morning" or "I have church in the morning". Ahh Sean you rock...at nothing. Hi Jamie! (I know tom will send her a link so I give shout outs to new readers) While I am at it Hi Rachel (potential new reader).
I don't have this blog posted on my facebook because I dont want randoms seeing my stuff. Maybe someday I will open up and let all the little trolls read, but not anytime soon. I'll put my running blog on facebook. That will probably just get into me getting angry at stupid stuff like this has become. Ok too much negetive, I'm going positive for a minute.
I love reading books. I am in the middle of many, but just started another, because fuck it thats why. The most recent book I started last night was KILL BIN LADEN ( http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Kill-Bin-Laden/Dalton-Fury/e/9780312384395/?itm=1) and it is a badass book about the hunt for bin laden at tora bora. I obviously have a boner for military books (almost finished with house to house http://search.barnesandnoble.com/House-to-House/David-Bellavia/e/9781416546979/?itm=1 which is a crazy book about the battle for fallujah in iraq.). These books are great and recommend them to anyone that enjoys reading. Reading is so old school. Tv shows are amazing, but books are so underrated. While in Barnes and noble today is struck me as to how many books there are that are published. So many books I pick up and want to read. It is a little overwhelming, but it is a good overwhelming. Books engage me so much more that TV or movies for the fact that so much more time is invested into one book. I picked up Jenna Jameson's book today (How to have sex like a porn star) and just started reading it and skimming. There was some damn interesting stuff about that crazy whore. I don't know if I would read her book, but I do know that it would be damn good. All I'm saying is that the book club is going to start this year. This is the year that my book club gets off the ground! We will need to come up with what the first book will be (should go small like goodnight moon or the cat and the hat and work out way up) and then have a nice little discussion. I think that is the best part about books; Looking for the underlying themes, foreshadowing, trying to figure out the author's motives. All that stuff is so fun to do. Most people are a little buts and authors are about 100X nuts, yet so incredible. I am not excited. I'm going to read. See you soon pals. What a terrible rambling post! These will get better, I promise.
You can't make this up. Just found this on digg. Glad I am not alone... http://www.time.com/time/arts/article/0,8599,1877187,00.html?iid=digg_share

chalmskin
I went running on Saturday after I got home from house sitting at Jan's for the final time (already waiting for another place to go, man my house is depressing) and it was truly amazing. It was about 40 degrees when I started running. Being that it was later in the day, the temp definitely dropped a little and the wind chill could definitely be felt. I had shorts on and a dri-fit long sleeve shirt with a half-zip fleece over it (also wore my badass army hat, thanks pops! . The weather felt awesome and I really wished that it was mid-late march, but it was obviously the end of january. I have mentioned previously that I signed up for a marathon in June in Duluth, MN. I have not run since October, and really have no done much active stuff (especially cardio) since running in the fall. My run on Saturday was definitely a wake-up call to myself. I am starting to wonder what I got myself into. I ran for about 3.6 miles and was a little tired afterward. The feeling after wasn't the problem, thats always the best part. It was the feeling I got sunday morning. The "jesus my legs should not be this sore" feeling when getting out of bed. Today I had the same feeling. The hamstrings were very tight and sore, as were the glutes, and quads. This isn't a feeling that is foreign to me. I used to always be used to it when I would be trying to get fit for soccer. It is always a bummer when it comes though and you feel like you are going to die. The good news is that that part is out of the way. The bad news is I have a feeling that training for the marathon (official training starts 2 week from tomorrow (tuesday the 17th). I am thinking about possibly making a new blog to keep track of my training for the marathon i.e. tracking daily the runs, temp, distance, thoughts, etc. I guess I could just do it here. Maybe I will go back to my livejournal and write it there. That way it separates work and play. "But Sean which is work and which is play?" good question optimistic side of head, lets just leave that answer for another time. Like I have said before I am excited to run it just for the challenge, thats the main reason why I'm doing it. I guess losing some weight (which is nice) comes with that fact, but I could just run 3 miles daily and lose weight. I'm doing this solely for the challenge and for the mental toughness. Its all mental, like most things in life.
I would still love for someone to join me in running (other than allie, but technically she was already doing it with her friend, so forget her). Tom I am glaring at you right now, I am directing this straight at you. Run this with me. I got bad intel on the sign up and apparently it usually is full by late march, not mid february like I heard from someone. So, considering that, and the fact that you are already in good shape it should be fine for you. All that running could cook up ideas in your head about the literature that you are reading these days. It was freezing today and will be chilly for the next few days, but then we get mid 20's and low 30's which is weather that sounds amazing (wooo minnesotans ftw!!).
Trivia tonight was fun as chalmskin. We took 2nd and won 50 free wings. The team of andy, lindsay, tyler, courtney, chris, illman, and myself. The music round fucking killed us and we ended up losing by a point. Still respectable though. First place takes $100 cash so that point was definitely a big one. No worrying though because we will be back and will conquer that trivia and move onto the next place that wants to get a lesson in what it means to be a pop culture whore and have friends that are just as pathetic (or as we look at it amazing). Good job tonight team, made me proud of all the contributions from everyone. No dead weight, which is always nice.
Superbowl on sunday somehow turned out to be a solid game. It didnt really matter because the people who I was around made it a fun game anyway. All the jokes and silly banter that you should come to expect around the new shl (chris photo album reference?!?) were there. I am sorry I didn't stay for rumplestilskin (sp), but fucketh me I was tired and kinda drained after I didn't get to see the John wayne Gacy raped any boys in Gacy (wiki it if you don't know who he is). I feel like my posts need to be a little better done. Next time I come at you I think I will talk about some podcasts that I have been repping lately and also a little on the tv front. Its almost quarter to 3 though and I am tired. Without further ado I'm going old school with some pictures from about 3-4 years ago. Some would call classics, I would call them antiques. An fyi that I do have about 150 pictures on my camera from the last year. Those will be put on my computer whenever I buy it, which may (10%) or may not(90%) be soon. Cheers, enjoy the pics. See you around!
