Is it 1999?

Just looking at many different brackets I am starting to see a nice correlation here between 1999 when it comes to this tournament and Uconn. 1999 was the year in which they "shocked the world" in beating the unstoppable Duke team with Elton Brand and company. This year Uconn is a #1 and UNC seems to be the heavy favorite (120K + polled on espn.com 51% to 21% taking the heels). There is no point in arguing it, because hopefully they meet in the championship, but to me UNC is definitely not the clear favorite. It just seems to me that UNC is more riding their name this year and the fact they were supposed to be unstoppable a lot more than their actual talent. Go Huskies.

See you in a year Cliff

http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Music/03/27/ti.sentencing/index.html

My favorite rapper and your favorite rapper's favorite rapper got sentenced today to 366 days in jail.

The few people that read this are not big fans of hiphop, and I don't blame them because it is rather pathetic these days. T.I. is my favorite rapper and his cds are amazing and he seems like a cool dude. I'm not going to stand here and defend him with buying illegal guns when he was already a convicted felon. It was stupid, very stupid and laughable. I can't laugh at him though because I really like him. He took a situation that was bad and he made something good with it. He did the stand up thing and said he was wrong and then agreed to do community service and different programs for kids. I tip my hat to him for admitting his stupidity and mistake and moving on. He will be in jail for a year, but he will be back. I look forward to his pending release.

I wish I could play for her

I understand that when you have a program that is year in year out one of the best in the country for women's basketball I understand the frustration that might come with losing in the first round for the first time. That being said this is still retarded. I think they were a 5 seed and lost to a 12? I don't know, and don't especially care because its girls and the only team that ever matters is the product that Geno puts on the floor. I believe (from my 4 years playing and my coach pulling this stunt once) that they get to practice up until the day of the championship game. Some lucky broads in that program. I'm sure thats what they signed up for when they signed their letter of intent to go to prestigious Tennessee. Ohh, and ESPN, spare me the story next year around this time about how good a coach Summit is for having done this, and inevitably, leading them further in the tournament. Hustle hard girls! I'm sure you are loving life!

This is something that is straight out of America. Yet somehow it has landed in Japan and appears to be one of the coolest concepts for an animated series ever. The Japanese don't even do anything halfway related to war anymore. I can only pray they dub it in English as well. Feast your eyes on CatShitOne

My new favorite band, and by that I mean I want to go to a show and sucker punch people in the face while in the pit.

It should be mentioned that the concert shown on the video doesn't even correspond to the song. Imagine what this sounds like live? It needs to be amazing.

Rainy Day

Is a nice gloomy day with thundershowers coming later. I am about to go and run in this beautiful weather. If i could these days would happen 90% of the year. Just amazingly gray. I have always been this way, this is nothing new. For some reason I just like the gray clouds and rain better than sun. Most everyone can appreciate a sunny day, but how many can truly appreciate a rainy day?

Anyway I came across this last week and it got not much play, that I know of, so here it is. Anyone who doesn't at least appreciate colbert is a moron. The dude is witty. And nasa just named a new room for the space station after him.

Spring is here which means one thing...

SNUFFY'S MALT SHOP.

It is nice to know I still get excited for this adventure. I cannot remember the last time I went to snuffy's but I know that every time I went it has been amazing. I am about to go out and run a little bit, but I will be thinking about snuffy's for most of the time. I will then head home and shower and mentally prepare for the awesomeness that is snuffy's.

If possible shorts are required considering it is going to be 55 degrees today. A smile is also required, and of course an appetite. All are invited to come to snuffy's to welcome the awesomeness that is spring.

Ohh hey there. My name is Ken

http://www.snuffysmaltshop.com/menu.htm

just looking at that menu makes me wonder why whenever I feel like fast food I don't just go there. I mean, I rarely eat fast food when I have the choice, but wow that place is so amazing. Just driving by there for the first time in a couple years a few weeks ago brought back a flood of memories. It always seemed like I would be there with friends in late march/early April. Maybe that is just because I love that time of the year. I still have a fond memory of snuffy's when I started hanging out with the original shl people (after I swallowed a hard pill might i add). Tyler was someone who I didn't know too well (wish I still didn't) and after everyone put their orders in the waitress was waiting on him to which he says "i will have the spaghetti with meatballs". I then pissed my pants from laughing because the girl was not really amused (see: menu) and Tyler probably just got a basket of fries or nothing because that's when he was scraps i think?

I write this because snuffy's time is almost upon us again. While it wont be everyone that I would love to share a burger and shake with, everyone in attendance will be more than appreciated.* I still don't know when I am going there, but stay tuned.

I went to the library today. I think that might be one of my favorite places to go. Just looking through the biographies alone sure is a good pick me up. There are stacks of biographies on so many different famous and influential people. It kinda gives me an overwhelming feeling. Here I am at 23 fresh out of college (sadly turning more and more stale by the days) and truly have no direction at all. I was browsing through some books on these legends and just reading the flaps are jaw dropping. The determination and courage and confidence that these people possess(ed) is just incredible.

I just had to write that down so in 10 years when I am on a show after changing the world I can have my "something from nothing" story and then can tell all the viewers at home "its funny how life works, sometimes its good, sometimes its bad, but its always fun in some sort of way" It will rock.

Lent

It is Lent. What does that mean to me? Well not too much. My high education and common sense has debunked the religion (and every other one) that I was brought up in. It is just a little to manipulative to me. Also for people to worship someone who accepted everyone and then to bash on gays, women, other religions and non-believers is the ultimate hypocrisy.

This wasn't about bashing religion though because as long as people keep to themselves and don't cause commotion they can believe whatever they want. I really mean that. I will still make fun, but not in a hurtful way. Well since it is lent I decided to give up alcohol.

I didn't think it would be that big of a deal. I was right, it isn't that big of a deal. My running has definitely helped with my lack of caring to drink. Drinking is damn fun, but it is expensive, and more fun in warm weather. I had one flaw in this planning and that is St. Patrick's day. That is my heritage's holiday and I will not be partaking in the drinking aspect of it this year. You are most likely thinking "that's the only aspect of it right". Wrong. Its the celebration of Irish immigrants that have infiltrated this great country and spread their amazing drinking ways to Americans. Are the Irish the only ethnic group that's racist and loud and assholes? No. Are they the only ones that have a holiday in which everyone goes and gets drunk? Maybe not, but theirs is surely the biggest and most recognized. Just to think Patrick back in his non-saint days got all the snakes out of the potato fields and had no idea people of all different ethnicity's would be drinking in his honor. What a feeling that must be, if only he knew.

So I will see how long I will go without alcohol. I started before lent, I didn't have that "last beer" so we will see. I am trying to go until June 20, but that most likely wont happen. I'm sure once warmer weather and summer gets here Saturday nights I will need to have a beer or 3 to stay sane from the running. Need something to keep me sane right?

Update on that MYSA job. So I applied to this job that was basically what I did my summer of 2007 interning there. I got an email back that asked me how I was doing and that they would be in touch with interested applicants next week. After a week I heard nothing and then the following Monday I got an email from Candace (boss from mysa) and I figured it wasn't good because you don't email about an interview. Sure enough they had picked someone else. I personally thought it was bush league to not get an interview, but who am I right? So the job search goes on. That still is tough to swallow though.

My running has been going well though, and has definitely cleared my mind and got me thinking more positively. Working out is truly amazing. I am excited to be in a groove to work out and excited for the warm weather that cannot be stopped now too. So if anyone is ever in the area and wants to go for a run just give me a call or message me or something. Remember you can follow my marathon training at momizzle.livejournal.com Tom it always posting his updates there as well. It is a rather enjoyable site for it has many more updates than this blog.

Well that is all for now my friends. I hope you are enjoying March and all the madness that comes with this glorious month. Special shout out to Chris for his last day at work today. If you need anything dude don't hesitate to ask. I know you are distraught after getting laid off from the job (circuit city customer service rep) you wished to take to the grave. Life goes on though friend. I am living proof of a fall from grace. I am still here and, while I am not thriving by any stretch of the imagination, I am surviving. I can only hope you can emulate me to some degree. My first recommendation is to get a good, long book that interests you and dive in. Books are the best.

See you soon and hopefully over at momizzle.livejournal.com for my marathon training!
