Lent

It is Lent. What does that mean to me? Well not too much. My high education and common sense has debunked the religion (and every other one) that I was brought up in. It is just a little to manipulative to me. Also for people to worship someone who accepted everyone and then to bash on gays, women, other religions and non-believers is the ultimate hypocrisy.

This wasn't about bashing religion though because as long as people keep to themselves and don't cause commotion they can believe whatever they want. I really mean that. I will still make fun, but not in a hurtful way. Well since it is lent I decided to give up alcohol.

I didn't think it would be that big of a deal. I was right, it isn't that big of a deal. My running has definitely helped with my lack of caring to drink. Drinking is damn fun, but it is expensive, and more fun in warm weather. I had one flaw in this planning and that is St. Patrick's day. That is my heritage's holiday and I will not be partaking in the drinking aspect of it this year. You are most likely thinking "that's the only aspect of it right". Wrong. Its the celebration of Irish immigrants that have infiltrated this great country and spread their amazing drinking ways to Americans. Are the Irish the only ethnic group that's racist and loud and assholes? No. Are they the only ones that have a holiday in which everyone goes and gets drunk? Maybe not, but theirs is surely the biggest and most recognized. Just to think Patrick back in his non-saint days got all the snakes out of the potato fields and had no idea people of all different ethnicity's would be drinking in his honor. What a feeling that must be, if only he knew.

So I will see how long I will go without alcohol. I started before lent, I didn't have that "last beer" so we will see. I am trying to go until June 20, but that most likely wont happen. I'm sure once warmer weather and summer gets here Saturday nights I will need to have a beer or 3 to stay sane from the running. Need something to keep me sane right?

Update on that MYSA job. So I applied to this job that was basically what I did my summer of 2007 interning there. I got an email back that asked me how I was doing and that they would be in touch with interested applicants next week. After a week I heard nothing and then the following Monday I got an email from Candace (boss from mysa) and I figured it wasn't good because you don't email about an interview. Sure enough they had picked someone else. I personally thought it was bush league to not get an interview, but who am I right? So the job search goes on. That still is tough to swallow though.

My running has been going well though, and has definitely cleared my mind and got me thinking more positively. Working out is truly amazing. I am excited to be in a groove to work out and excited for the warm weather that cannot be stopped now too. So if anyone is ever in the area and wants to go for a run just give me a call or message me or something. Remember you can follow my marathon training at momizzle.livejournal.com Tom it always posting his updates there as well. It is a rather enjoyable site for it has many more updates than this blog.

Well that is all for now my friends. I hope you are enjoying March and all the madness that comes with this glorious month. Special shout out to Chris for his last day at work today. If you need anything dude don't hesitate to ask. I know you are distraught after getting laid off from the job (circuit city customer service rep) you wished to take to the grave. Life goes on though friend. I am living proof of a fall from grace. I am still here and, while I am not thriving by any stretch of the imagination, I am surviving. I can only hope you can emulate me to some degree. My first recommendation is to get a good, long book that interests you and dive in. Books are the best.

See you soon and hopefully over at momizzle.livejournal.com for my marathon training!

Thank you sir. I'd love to go for a run sometime when this shitty weather stops its comeback. I'd also like to go to the library sometime as well. I always get jealous when you talk about books. I wish I read more, and now is the perfect time, seeing as I have nothing ever again. We should hang soon though, and I do have some Snuffy's coupons as well...
